  • Dental Check-Ups

    The dentist and dental assistant will introduce themselves and ask if you have any specific concerns or issues with your teeth, gums or appearance of your smile. Next they will assess the current condition of your teeth and gums. The dentist may request that digital dental x-rays be taken of your teeth and gums during your check-up. There are three types of x-rays that your dentist may suggest: Small Dental X-Ray – for individual teeth OPG – a full mouth x-ray 3-D Cone Beam X-Ray – shows very fine detail of all structures of the jaw in a three dimensional view For more extensive treatment planning, the dentist may obtain study models of upper and lower teeth and/or digital photographs of your face and teeth. As part of your ongoing dental maintenance program, your dentist may offer a scale and clean to remove tartar build-ups. A professionally applied fluoride application will assist in reduction of dental decay and decrease the sensitivity of your teeth.

  • Emergency Dental

    We understand that patients who are genuinely in a dental emergency need priority attention. That’s why we try to keep some space available in the appointment books every day for patients requiring an emergency dentist. At Pacific Smiles Dental Clinics, most of our dentists are available six days a week, with some Clinics open Sundays, evenings and public holidays which makes it easier for patients requiring emergency treatment to get an appointment when they need one.

  • Dental Implants

    Dental implants can be thought of as artificial roots that are securely anchored in the jaw. They are cylindrical devices made of medical grade titanium which are placed in the site of a missing tooth or teeth where they biologically bond with the bone and are capped with a ceramic crown that matches existing teeth.

  • Gum Disease

    Patients with gum disease have an infection of the gums and or bone that surround and support their teeth. Gum disease can affect patients of all ages and is one of the major factors contributing to bad breath, tooth pain and tooth loss.

  • Root Canal

    Root Canal Treatment is a dental procedure that removes the nerve or dental pulp of the tooth. This is often required when the nerve of a tooth has been damaged by trauma or more commonly tooth decay. Often Root Canal Therapy is the alternative to tooth extraction and often required to retain/save a damaged tooth.

  • Teeth Cleaning

    To ensure a beautiful healthy smile for life, it’s important for both adults and children to clean their teeth at least twice a day. Dentists recommend a gentle but thorough brushing action using a soft toothbrush with a small head and fluoride toothpaste. In addition to home care it is important to have your teeth professionally cleaned by your Dentist. Most Dentists recommend patients have their teeth professionally cleaned twice a year in combination with their biannual check-up.

  • Tooth Extraction

    Tooth extraction can be completed in the Dental chair using local anaesthetic, under intravenous sedation in the dental chair or under general anaesthetic in a private hospital. The extraction procedure may or may not involve surgery. The procedure will be determined by a patient’s health, age, the location of the tooth and the complexity of the root formation. Your Dentist will discuss the best treatment options for you, and will require an x-ray of the tooth concerned in order to view the root location and formation, and the density of the supporting bone.

  • Wisdom Tooth Removal

    Wisdom teeth can be removed under local anaesthetic in the Dentist’s chair, under intravenous sedation in the dentist’s chair or under general anaesthetic in a hospital. Procedures under local anaesthetic usually take place in the Dentist’s rooms and can be performed with or without oral sedatives, nitrous oxide sedation or intravenous sedation. A local anaesthetic will remove any pain sensation, however, people are still aware of pressure and pushing (less so if sedated). Intravenous sedation can also be performed in the Dentist’s rooms. A medical practitioner (Specialist Anaesthetist or a doctor with training in IV sedation) will attend the appointment and provide intravenous sedation. The sedation will assist with any anxiety and allow you to be treated in a relaxed state. The dentist will still use a local anaesthetic for pain control. The result is a “twilight sleep” with no recollection of the procedure. The alternative option is wisdom teeth removal under general anaesthetic in a private hospital setting. Many people opt for a general anaesthetic so that they can sleep through the procedure and be totally unaware of any part of the experience.

  • Dentures

    A full denture replaces all the natural teeth. These dentures rest on the gums of either your upper or lower jaws, or both. A full set of dentures helps provide support to your facial structure allowing your lips and cheeks to look fuller, resulting in a younger, healthier appearance. A partial denture replaces lost or missing teeth and are usually retained by clasps around your existing teeth. Replacing missing teeth will make eating easier and provide you with a more confident smile. These dentures can have a plastic or chrome base for added strength. Implant retained dentures are a popular alternative to conventional dentures. An implant retained denture replaces one or more single teeth and is held in place by dental implants secured within the jaw.

  • Invisalign

    The system works with clear trays that are removable. As the patient progresses through the program, the trays (called ‘aligners’) get tighter fitting, moving teeth into the required position to create a beautiful straight smile!

  • Teeth Whitening

    Whitening procedures are typically carried out at home by the patient following a consultation with a dentist. Teeth whitening may not be appropriate for all patients, so before commencing any whitening procedure it is best to discuss expected outcomes and time frames with a dentist. Where appropriate, the dentist will take impressions of your teeth to prepare a custom-made ultra thin mouth tray. The tray is used to hold the bleaching gel close to the teeth. The whitening gel is placed in the tray which is then worn for up to 2 hours a day. Results are usually seen within two weeks. Your dentist will advise you on how long to wear the tray both initially and for maintenance.

  • Veneers

    Veneers offer patients the opportunity to improve the overall appearance of teeth. Veneers are thin porcelain or composite resin facings that are bonded to the front of teeth. They are between 0.3mm and 0.5mm thick and are often used as an alternative to crowns. They are extremely thin and in most cases require less of the natural tooth to be removed when compared to crowns. Composite & Porcelain Veneers are strong and durable making them a popular cosmetic dental treatment for smile makeovers.

  • Dental Crowns

    Dental crowns are a custom-made restoration which fits over the prepared existing natural tooth and replaces the natural crown, which is the part of the tooth that is visible above the gums. Dental crowns can be used for strength, durability and tooth stability, or for cosmetic reasons to enhance the appearance of a tooth.

    The Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) provides individuals benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. The means-tested initiative requires eligibility for a Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
